Finding Books at the Library

Answer

Below are some simple steps for finding books using the OC Library. For a more detailed guide on how to search for and find books, check out our How to Find a Book LibGuide.

Step-by-Step

  1. Use the library's OneSearch to enter a book title, author, or other information that you are looking for.
  2. Select the "Held by Library" filter on the left side of your results screen to limit results to only print books in the library.
  3. Click on a title that you are interested in to see the book's availability and location.
  4. For circulating books that are currently available, locate the item's call number shown below:
  5. Use this call number to locate the item on its shelf. All books follow the Library of Congress Classification system that includes a series of letters and numbers. Follow signs upstairs to identify the correct section and check the spines of books to locate your item.
  6. Head to the library circulation desk to check out books you are interested in reading!
